RECORD ON SOME CATERPILLARS OF BUTTERFLIES (LEPIDOPTERA: PAPILIONOIDEA) IN EAST JAVA, INDONESIA

Indonesia has a high diversity of butterflies with more than 2,000 species, yet knowledge their pre-adult stages is very limited. A thorough understanding the larval stage necessary to complement data on butterfly and distribution. This survey, which lasted from 2012 2022, aimed document larvae in last instars that were encountered East Java. Leaves host plants visually inspected during day collect eggs or larvae. The then reared adulthood resulted 136 verified species total. Of caterpillars 107 (78.68%) had previously been documented, those 29 (21.32%) are newly reported here, including Eurema beatrix Ixias venilia, rare endemic information will serve as substantial part developing field guide Java, include stages.
